Chicken Salad Chick plans to open its fourth Birmingham area restaurant Wednesday in the Riverchase Village shopping center.
The fast casual chicken salad restaurant has scheduled a ribbon cutting at 10:45 a.m., followed by a grand opening at 11 a.m. The restaurant is right next to the Best Buy store off Lorna Road.
The first guest in line will receive a free pound of chicken salad every week for a year, while the next 99 will get a free pound of chicken salad per month for a year, the restaurants general manager said. More giveaways are scheduled every business day through June 11.
This will be the 17th Chicken Salad Chick restaurant in Alabama and the 54th in the Southeast. Others in the Birmingham area are at The Village at Lee Branch off U.S. 280 in Hoover, SoHo Square in Homewood and downtown Birmingham at 2118 Seventh Ave. South.
To date, Chicken Salad Chick has sold 146 franchises to be developed across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas, the company said.
The restaurant serves 15 original flavors of chicken salad, as well as gourmet soups, side salads and freshly-baked desserts. The Chicken Salad Chick concept was started in 2008 in Auburn by founders Stacy and Kevin Brown and has grown quickly.
