How Was Blue Cheese Invented

Just for fun, I thought it would be interesting to look up where blue cheese was invented. Im not sure if its accurate or not, but supposedly there was a cheesemaker that had a little too much to drink. He had a cave that was moist and for cheese. While he had been drinking, he was eating a loaf of bread and forgot it behind when he left. Shockingly, when he returned, the bread had molded, and the cheese then turned into blue cheese. Whether its true or not, its kind of a neat story, and now people can enjoy blue cheese dressing with so many foods.

Youll also be happy to know when you eat this low carb blue cheese dressing it doesnt just taste good youll get some nutrients too Vitamin A, calcium, zinc, magnesium, vitamin B12, phosphorus, and protein.

Caesar Salad Dressing Ingredients

There are just 6 ingredients in the best Caesar salad dressing recipe! ) Let me break down why were using these ingredients:

  • Mayonnaise This is the base of the dressing and what makes it luxuriously creamy.
  • Olive Oil This helps to emulsify the dressing.
  • Lemon Juice Adds bright, lemony flavor and helps to balance out the richness of homemade Caesar salad dressing.
  • Anchovy Paste In order to make a traditional Caesar salad dressing recipe you need anchovies! I love to use the paste because its easy to use and can be stored and saved to use later, unlike a can of anchovies.
  • Worcestershire Sauce This easy ingredient adds a savory and umami flavor. A little goes a long way. If youre hesitant to use it, coconut aminos is fine to substitute.
  • Garlic You cant make the best Caesar salad dressing without garlic! Mince it as small as you can, or use the side of your knife to make it into a paste.

    How To Find Keto

As we mentioned in our keto hacks post, it is common to find hidden carbs and sugars even in something as seemingly innocent as salads dressings or condiments.

If you choose to go with a store-bought low-carb dressing, its important to check labels for nutrition facts like carb and sugar content.

More importantly, though, make sure to read the ingredient list to find the best options that are fit for your keto diet.

If you want the convenience of store-bought low-carb dressings, here is a roundup of the best keto-friendly salad dressing brands out there.

    Keto Caesar Salad Dressing

Move over, ranch dressing. Traditional Caesar salad dressing is salty, nutty, and full of savory flavors, but its not precisely keto-friendly.

Making your own Caesar salad dressing at home is simple, and you likely have all the ingredients on hand.

What makes this salad dressing so addictive is the addition of anchovies. Dont worry they dont have any fishy flavor at all!

When added to this dressing, the anchovies deliver a serious salty punch that pairs well with tangy Wotshtershire, garlic, and lemon juice.

    Ranch who?

Sometimes, the best recipes are the ones that utilize the fewest ingredients.

While the ingredient list for this keto avocado lime dressing is short, it packs massive Mexican-inspired flavors.

The bright green color of this dressing is hard to resist, and youll likely use it for more than just salads.

The avocado base delivers massive creaminess without added sugars or carbs.

Build upon that creamy base with fresh herbs and a generous squeeze of lime juice to lift those flavors to the next level.

Sure, its excellent for salads, but its so thick and creamy that you can also use it as a dip for fresh veggies or swap it for mayo on burgers or wraps.

Everything You Need To Know About Buying Salad Dressing At The Grocery Store

Using Primal Kitchen Green Goddess salad dressing.

I started out by buying three flavors of Primal Kitchen dressings, including Green Goddess, Balsamic Vinaigrette, and Caesar. Green Goddess was the first one I tried. It had a pretty strong vinegar taste to it. With the first bite, I thought I wouldnt like it. I had been expecting more of a green taste. But then I realized I did like it I was just surprised by the taste and it confused me.

After a few more bites, the tangy flavor grew on me. It had a medium thickness level. Not too thick or thin. By the end of the bowl, I knew I liked it and would enjoy the rest of the bottle. I usually eat lettuce-based salads, and thats what I ate with this one dressing, but I think it might pair better with a spinach salad.

The next one I tried was the Balsamic Vinaigrette and I became instantly obsessed. It tasted how you would expect a balsamic dressing to taste, but extra delicious. Just make sure to shake this one up so the oil and vinegar mix together.

This flavor goes really well with salads that have berries in them, especially blueberries. The balsamic with the sweetness of berries is a perfect pairing. The dressing also soaks nicely into croutons. Balsamic Vinaigrette is by far my favorite Primal Kitchen dressing and the one I keep adding to my cart.

This is essentially our honey vinaigrette dressing with extra zest instead of stevia. All you need is an Italian spice mix or the combination of herbs used in the recipe to make this quick and easy Italian dressing.

You can also try making a creamy version by replacing the oil with mayo and using enough vinegar to get it to the right viscosity. Keep the seasonings the same.

Try having the oil-based dressing or the creamy Italian variation on a keto cobb salad to give it an extra punch of flavor and fat.
