Poke Salad Bar Pasadena

Fresh ingredients combine for a delicious dining experience of your creation. Great value and an abundance of food, you will definitely not leave hungry.

Strolling down Colorado Boulevard in Old Pasadena, my girlfriend and I came across Poke Salad Bar .We glanced over their menu and were pleasantly surprised to find such reasonable prices. As…we stepped inside we were immediately greeted by the serving staff. Now I am personally a big fan of Poke and consider it one of my favorite foods. That being said, I was quite impressed by their extensive selection of salad toppings. We both ordered medium-sized dishes, which were generously proportioned compared to other more expensive restaurants. The food itself was phenomenal and very much a work of art.More

POKE SALAD BAR

Absolutely love this place. Fresh fish and ingredients. The poke tastes really good if you know what combo of sauces to get. I love getting the small with ahi tuna and spicy tuna, the medium and large are really big, and I’m a pretty big guy. Make sure to get a lot of dried onions. Very crispy texture to your poke. Service is fantastic. They always give good portions.

First time there and will be back. The employee was helpful in picking out items.Very good and we ate there ad well.It got busy too so we came at the right time. Next time I’ll get less spicy lol

The poke’s are very good with lots of fresh ingredients and the fish is very delicious. The brown rice is not too heavy and the salads are also delightful. The mix of ingredients is just right. Service is fast and the prices are in line…with similar restaurants. Street parking can be tough sometimes as Blaze Pizza just opened next door. But this is much more healthy than pizza.More

My wife and I bumped into PSB last month and we’ve been going regularly. They have a simple but really good selection of fish and toppings. I always order a “medium” which gets you 3 scoops of whatever fish you select . I always get salmon and yellowtail. My wife loves the ahi and spicy tuna. We choose a healthy base of just salad. The crabmeat and seaweed salad are very good. I also choose to have mine mixed up with some of their hot sauce. I wouldn’t say it’s cheap but it’s reasonable. Expect to pay between $11 and $14 per person. I’m ready to go back! Give it a try.More

The Simple Beauty Of Poke

For all the restaurants we wax poetic about every week, there is that small handful of places we return to like swallows, for any number of reasons. Maybe its the vibe, maybe its the menu. Maybe its both, maybe its neither.

Years ago, when I lived in Hawaii, I would stare at the poke in the supermarket. Cubes of fresh fish, served on top of salad, or more commonly, on mounds of steamed rice. That was a hamburger and fries for the locals.

I didnt get it.

Tastes evolve, things change, and now, I dont let three days pass without poke. I have a couple of places I visit or get delivered from, but if Im near Old Pasadena when the feeling strikes, Im parking in the Delacey structure near that groovy little Japanese mini-department store, and strolling over to Poke Salad Bar.

Simple pleasures are the best, and this one fits that bill. Poke Salad Bar offers three sizes of fresh poke with a base of salad, white or brown rice, or a combination. Add to that any number of types of fishsalmon, scallops, tuna, spicy tuna, octopus, albacore, you get the ideaand top that with crab meat, maybe some mango, some pineapple, sweet corn, and maybe some seaweed. You can top that with some edamame, maybe green onion, a little wasabi, or one of a host of dry toppings that frankly all look like corn flakes to me.

Next comes the sauce. I opt for the citrus-y Yuzu Ponzu and Wasabi Mayo, but you can also choose from chipotle mayo, sesame shoyu, sweet chili, or a sweet hot sauce.
