What Does A Blender Even Do
Blenders breakdown ingredients to create a uniform, smooth consistency. Their blades are not sharp, but powerful. The design of the pitcher and spinning motion of the blades draw solid objects towards the blades and liquid away. Eventually, all of the solids liquify and a uniform mix is created.
So, blenders are meant for pureeing soft solids and liquids. Blenders should be used when you want your end results to be smooth and consistent.

I also really like the personal blenders that come with a few different to-go cups, which cuts down on the meal prep process. And of course, look for a blender thats BPA-free and dishwasher safe.”

Cuisinart Mini Blender Review
The Cuisinart mini blender CPB 300 provides nice power for the compact size with 350 watts of blending power. It comes with a 32oz blending cup, four 16oz blend and go cups, one 8oz chopping cup, blending blade, and a chopping blade.
I love the large 32oz cup so you can do larger portions than many of the other portable blenders. This Cuisinart blender has a narrow design and would be a good gym blender or portable blender with the 16oz cups.
Positives: Has multiple control buttons for high, low, and pulse which is great if you will be doing more than just blending. It has a really nice mix of features and power for the size. Cuisinarts higher power and larger 32oz cup provide more versatility than other miniature blenders.
Negatives: The biggest issue with this blender is price at 3x the Hamilton Beach. For mini blenders, the Cuisinart is heavier than the others which isnt as ideal if you want a portable travel blender.
CPB 300 Overview video
Overall Opinion: I like Cuisinart appliances although their blenders dont usually rank near the top in blender tests. The CPB 300 does offer a lot of power and useful accessories compared to other small blenders but you pay a high price for that that. It is a little heavier than our top choices so Cuisinart might not be the best portable travel blender. At this price point you start to compete with more powerful personal blenders which is why we ranked it lower than our top picks.

What Are The Best Blenders
According to our research, we’ve found the best blender to be the Vitamix Professional Series 750. It produces smooth and consistent results, crushes ice with ease and come with an extensive warranty. At over $500, it’s not the cheapest blender, but in terms of performance, there’s little room for improvement. If you’re looking for a hand blender for pureeing dips and sauces, we recommend the KitchenAid KHB2561CU 5-Speed Hand Blender. It comes with multiple attachments, giving it great versatility.
If you just want to blend smoothies and don’t want to break the bank, then the Hamilton Beach Personal Blender is worth considering. This smoothie maker is a steal for under $20 and while it’s not the most powerful, it will effectively blend soft fruit and is ideal for commuters or gym-goers. For a moderately priced full size jug blender, we recommend the KitchenAid KSB1570ER 5-Speed Blender it’s easy to use a good all-round performer.
If you’re a fan of kale, then you might like the Breville BBL620 Fresh & Furious Blender. It has a setting designed for green smoothies, so wont have any trouble with leaves or veggies.
Benchtop Or Stick Blender
While it’s great to think you’ll be using a blender for a myriad of new culinary adventures, if the truth is you’re only going to end up using it occasionally for fruit smoothies and shakes, a stick blender will do the job and cost you less.
But if you’re blending often and with ingredients like hard fruit, seeds, vegetables and ice, you’ll need the grunt only a benchtop blender can offer.

How To Choose The Best Blender For You
When shopping for a new blender, you’ll want to take several factors into account, from the type of blender and specific features you need to the size of the blender and the counterspace you have available.
- All-Purpose/Conventional blenders are the most wallet-friendly. While theyll easily handle milkshakes and smoothies, depending on blade design and wattage, they can leave drinks a little chunky.
- Premium/High-Performance blenders have better-quality parts and give super smooth results. They can turn raw vegetables into soup, ice and cream into frozen desserts, and nuts into butter. Expect to pay anywhere from $200 to $700.
- Personal/Smoothie blenders are perfect for fruit smoothies, milkshakes and powdered drinks. The mixing container doubles as a travel jar, so they’re excellent for athletes and commuters alike. They’re also smaller than conventional and premium blenders.
- Immersion/Stick/Handheld blenders are meant to be submerged directly into the food/drink you’re preparing: soups, purees, foams, marinades and more. When youre making gravy or a soup like vichyssoise, you can puree the ingredients right in the pot you dont have to transfer the ingredients into the blender jar in batches.
Pro tip: Measure the vertical space between your countertop and cabinets before purchasing a full-size blender ideally, it should be able to slide under the cabinet when not in use. Eighteen inches of clearance is enough room for most models.
Other Blenders To Consider
One thing to keep in mind is that all of the personal blenders we tested are not to be used with hot liquids. So if you are looking for a blender that you can also use to make soups, youll need a more traditional bar blender or a high-speed blender. Alternatively, you can buy a personal blender for smoothies and such, then invest in an immersion blender for tasks involving hot liquids.

Pesto And Salad Dressings
Use up bunches of basil by making pesto, which is delicious on pasta or tossed with roasted vegetables. The authentic way to make it is with a mortar and pestle. But a blender is the next best thing, says Katie. It really mimics the grinding action of the mortar and pestle, mashing and crushing the ingredients together. Many recipes call for pine nuts, which add a nutty flavor. But they can be expensive, plus allergies might be an issue. Try this Nut-Free Basil Pesto with Pecorino Romano, which in addition to basil, calls for garlic, olive oil, cheese, and freshly ground black pepper.Best blender: Mayonnaise and salad dressing are two other recipes that benefit from the emulsifying action of the blender. The secret is to add the oil slowly, while the blender is running. The lids on most blenders have filler holes that make this easier, although theyre not as small as the drizzle hole on food processors, so pour carefully. On the Electrolux Expressionist ELJB56B8PS, $150, the hole is accessed through a removable measuring cup that locks in place when youre done adding all your ingredients.
Best Battery Powered: Cuisinart Evolutionx Cordless Compact Blender Rpb
No measurement markings on cup
This personal blender is lithium battery-operated, so you can use it anywhere without access to an outletas long as it’s charged. The battery fully recharges in just two hours via a USB cable, which can be connected to ports on your computer or car or used with the included standard electrical plug. The battery is estimated to provide 20 minutes of runtime when fully charged.
It comes with one 16-ounce BPA-free cup plus a travel lid so you can take your smoothies and protein shakes on-the-go. The four-prong blade screws on to the blending cup, and can also be used to puree single servings of soup or crush ice for drinks and slushies.
The blender is powered on and off by a single one-speed power button that lights up when in use. The stainless steel accent and streamlined shape look good on countertops, too. It’s a bit bigger and heavier than the BlendJet, the only other battery-powered model on this list, but it’s backed by a three-year limited warranty, so keep that in mind if you’re trying to decide between the two.

What To Look For In A Personal Blender
There’s a lot to consider when shopping for a personal blender, so we outlined the most important factors below to make it easier to figure out which is best for your needs. Based on our testing experience, we’ve determined that these are the four most important things to think about before buying a personal blender:
- Wattage: The blenders on this list have motors that are anywhere from 250 to 1100 watts, which is a pretty big range. This is a good indicator of how powerful it is, so keep in mind that the higher the number, the stronger and more efficient the blender will be.
- Cups: If you prefer bigger smoothies, make sure to pick a blender that comes with larger, 24-ounce cups. Some are as small as 12 ounces, so you may need to cut down your recipes to fit in them. If you plan on drinking your smoothie while on the go, make sure the blender comes with a travel lid with a spout.
- Settings: Built-in programs and different speed settings give you more control over the results, but many personal blenders only have one setting .
- Price: Don’t forget to consider the value of a personal blender before you buy. Think about what features and aspects you’d be willing to splurge on or give up to get the best personal blender for your needs. For example, the most expensive option on our list is the modern-looking Beast for $155, but you can also spend almost half of that on a Ninja blender and get smoothies that are just as tasty.
