This was my first visit to this restaurant. As the name states, it offers a variety of chicken salad flavors. They can be served as a sandwich on bread or a croissant, or as a scoop on lettuce. I chose the croissant. It was very…good. The chicken salad is in a ground up form, not in chunks, and the sandwich contains a good portion of salad. There are several choices for sides, I selected potato soup. It was thick and creamy and topped with scallion, bacon and cheese. Pretty good. Have driven by here almost daily since it opened and finally decided to stop in. I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was surprised to see that it was a bright, clean, nicely decorated restaurant with tables. I had planned to just get something to…take home but now that I know next time I will sit. The chicken salad sandwich and the chicken salad scoop was very tasty. Some of the best customer service. Great atmosphere.The gluten-free menu has multiple choices.

Chicken Salad Chick Opening 6th Kentucky Unit

Kentucky will have its sixth Chicken Salad Chick location when a store opens Wednesday in Middletown featuring a drive-thru at 12009 Shelbyville Road, according to a company press release.

Multi-unit franchise owners David Harris, Ken Greene, Rand Jones and Bart Middlebrooks of SureChick Kentucky began opening Chicken Salad Chick locations in 2015. They’ve added first-time franchise owner Laney Brittingham to their team for the latest opening.

Brittingham joined the Chicken Salad Chick family in 2013 and has since worked with the partners of SureChick Kentucky as district manager of SureChick Georgia restaurants, as well as the St. Augustine, Florida, and Montgomery, Alabama, locations.

“Following my eight years of managing Chicken Salad Chick locations throughout Georgia and Florida, and serving as a district manager for the brand, I am thrilled to step into a new ownership role as part of the Chick team bringing this made-from-scratch, southern favorite to Middletown,” Brittingham said in the release. “We are so excited to continue growing our footprint in Kentucky and provide Chicken Salad Chick’s made-from-scratch, southern favorite to the Middletown community.”

Located at 1000 South Ponce de Leon Boulevard, the restaurant will celebrate its grand opening on July 16 with free chicken salad for a year to the first 100 guests.

Chicken Salad Chick Grand Opening

The St. Augustine location of the Chicken Salad Chick has announced its grand opening for July 16 at 10 a.m. The first 100 people in line will receive 1 lb. of free chicken salad every month for a year, as well as other customer giveaways that week.

Renovations are underway at 1000-09 South Ponce de Leon Blvd., within the Winn-Dixie plaza. It is next to the Metro Diner, which figured into the Alabama-based chain’s decision to open a store at that location.

“We wanted to be somewhere where all the locals are, not downtown,” said Laney Brittingham, operations manager for the St. Augustine Chicken Salad Chick.

The franchise has achieved an almost cult-like following for its numerous twists on the mayonnaise-based standard. Some of those include a hickory BBQ flavor, a buffalo chicken variety and traditional standbys like the Classic Carol.

The St. Augustine location will hire 75 employees before the opening a relatively high number for a fast casual chain. Brittingham said that’s because the eatery prepares everything from scratch every day, from its salads to its pimento cheese spreads, which is labor intensive.

Chicken Salad Chick has 127 locations nationwide, mostly in the Southeast and Midwest. The other two closest stores are in Ormond Beach and Baymeadows in Jacksonville.

Chicken Salad Chick was started by entrepreneur Stacy Brown through her experimentation at home. Brown will be on hand for the St. Augustine ribbon-cutting.
