Kale kind of sucks.
Im aware of the inflammatory nature of the previous statement, but I like to keep it as real as possible on this blog. Trust me, no one is more upset than I am that I havent gotten on board with this trendy green. Id actually like nothing more than to fall in love with kale, since admitting to other foodies/healthy eaters that Im not a fan tends to go over about as well as when I tell people that I dont really like dogs or babies.
Obviously, I am familiar with the superfood qualities that kale possesses, but in case you are not, I shall briefly summarize them for you. Kale is a nutritional powerhouse, people. Its packed with calcium, fiber, and mass quantities of vitamins A, C, and K, as well as a host of essential minerals. It also has several sulphur-containing phytonutrients that amp up your bodys natural detox power, such as kaempferol, which apparently activates longevity genes. Kale fights cancer. It prevents heart disease. It promotes brain health and clear skin. Plus, the leafy green clocks in at a mere 33 calories per cup, so eating it will definitely make you skinnier. Kale is magic.

Everyone has been talking about a great new and delicious addition that Wawa has been selling: a KALE and QUINOA salad! There has been a lot of talk about it, considering that it is now one of the few healthy choices for a quick meal at Wawa. But there is one problem: vegans cannot enjoy it!
No worries, however, because it is simple to recreate this amazing dish at home. Plus, with this recreation, people that live in areas without Wawas can enjoy this salad! Prepare for your taste buds to be in heaven with this delicious combination that is made in two simple parts.
Fit Foodie Life: Wawa Kale And Quinoa Salad
Once boiling, reduce heat to low and simmer, covered with the lid slightly ajar, for 12-13 minutes or until quinoa is fluffy and the liquid has been absorbed. Once your quinoa is ready, fluff with a fork and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Transfer to a medium bowl to cool.
Next, slice the rolled up kale into thin ribbons. Whisk all dressing ingredients together. Add chopped kale to a large bowl and toss with half the dressing. Let sit for at least 10 minutes. Taylor Farms Florida Inc., of Orlando, FL is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Kale and Quinoa Salad because they have the potential of containing an undeclared soy allergen within the dressing packet in the salad.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the ingredient label on the bottom of the packaging did not indicate the presence of soy.
People who have severe sensitivity or allergies to soy may run the risk of a serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The salads were sold in a limited number of Wawa stores in Florida. There are 134 units of the affected Kale and Quinoa Salad which have the code date of sell by 3/22/2015 TFFLD076A1 5:00am, packaged in a 7.5oz plastic container. The affected product was distributed to stores on 3/17/15.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
This voluntary recall does not apply to any other Wawa or Taylor Farms products distributed in the United States.
Customers who have purchased Wawa Kale and Quinoa Salad with sell by date 3/22/2015 in Florida are urged to discard the product and contact the Wawa Call Center at 1-800-444-9292 24 hours a day 7 days a week for a full refund.
