Why Make Your Own Homemade Salad Dressing
Making my own salad dressings is something that I have done for years without ever buying a bottled dressing. Its not because Im so diligent that I never ever take the easy way out. This is not a matter of virtue. Its truly a matter of convenience.
Bottled salad dressings go bad, but you can only buy them in the quantities in which theyre sold. Even a simple bottled vinaigrette will go bad over time, and then you have to have it rattling around in the door of your refrigerator, mocking you every time you open and close that door.
How To Make Homemade Dairy Free Ranch Dressing
All you need is 5 minutes, a bowl and whisk. Lets go!
Step 1: Add your mayo and coconut milk to a medium bowl or blender, along with all of the other herbs and spices.
Step 2: Whisk or blend in a regular blender until well combined. An immersion blender would also work well.
Step 3: Pour into a jar or bottle but just make sure you store it in an air tight container. Place in the refrigerator for an hour or two so all the flavors will meld together. It will also thicken as it chills.
So good ahead and use it on your favorite food like chicken wings as its not just for green salads. My neighbor even puts it on pizza!

How To Make Caesar Salad
Now, I know caesar dressing can be a bit controversial. Theres so many stances you can take on the subject creamy vs. non-creamy, anchovies or not, and is there seriously supposed to be raw egg in this.
Im actually onboard with all of them . But, I have to say, a caesar vinaigrette with anchovies is by far my favorite.
And, its so easy to make. The secret is anchovy paste. Ok, its not actually a secret, but its quite a time saver and gives you the flavor youre looking for from the anchovies without having to actually chop up those squishy little filets.
This recipe makes enough for 1 really big salad or two average sized ones.
Homemade Gluten Free Ranch Dressing
Like most homemade salad dressings and vegetable dips, making ranch dressing is easier that youd ever think. Combine fridge and spice cupboard staples including mayonnaise, apple cider vinegar, milk, herbs, and spices into a bowl then whisk it up. Incredibly simple and so, so much better than store bought ranch dressing. Yes, even Hidden Valley. Start eating my homemade ranch dressing and the bottled stuff will start tasting like chemicals!

Brands Of Allergy Friendly Mayo
Since this recipe doesnt use sour cream or real dairy, most of the creaminess in this dressing is from the mayo. Youll want to make sure that you can find a good mayo that fits your food allergies.
I have egg and soy allergies or intolerances, which are both used very often in commercial mayos. Fortunately there are quite a few brands on the market now that are both egg free and soy free!
That wasnt the case about 10 years ago when it was very hard to find good allergy friendly mayo in our smallish town. I would often put hummus on my kids sandwiches. Needless to say, my kids were less than enthusiastic about that and were pretty glad when we finally found a mayo they could have.
If you can have eggs, you can definitely make your own mayo. But if you cant have eggs , here are a few good store bought mayos that are egg free and soy free:

Lemony Garlic Creamy Mustard Dressing

Lemons are one of the best ingredients to use when making a low-cal, nutrient-dense dressing. They are rich in a tangy, refreshing flavor and also offer many health benefits, especially to the liver. This dressing also adds a full flavor profile from the garlic and creamy cashew butter used. You can also use tahini or even almond butter in place of cashew butter, or for a low-fat version, stick with some simple almond or soy milk instead.

Why Is Italian Dressing Bad For You
Italian dressing is a no-no
While Italian dressing can be a lighter, less fatty alternative to creamy dressings, it too has its faults, especially when you opt for commercial brands. For one thing, its still high in sodium without providing any of the essential nutrients required for a balanced diet.

Creamy Dairy Free Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing
This recipe makes a smooth and creamy raspberry vinaigrette dressing that goes well with any mixed green salad. The taste is out of this world good! You can make it with fresh raspberries or frozen raspberries.
In order to get a more concentrated flavor I also like to use freeze dried raspberries, it makes such a huge difference!
To make this raspberry vinaigrette creamy and dairy free I used plant yogurt. To get a thicker consistency coconut yogurt is the best.
