Either! The only caveat here is that fresh herbs incorporate into the dressing much faster than dried herbs. If youre using fresh herbs, you only have to let your dressing sit for 15 minutes, while dried herbs should sit in your dressing for at least a few hours for full flavor.

You can sub out the following dried herbs for their fresh counterparts.

  • Quarter onion diced = two teaspoons onion powder
  • One clove of minced garlic = one teaspoon garlic powder
  • Quarter cup fresh minced parsley = one tablespoon dried parsley
  • Two tablespoons of fresh minced chives = one tablespoon dried chives

A healthier version of Americas most popular salad dressing! Usually made with mayonnaise and buttermilk, this healthier Ranch Dressing is made with Greek Yogurt and olive oil, plus a good dose of Ranch Dressing seasonings.

Ranch Dressing is so good, I use it as an all purpose dressing for anything that usually calls for a creamy dressing, from garden salads to pasta salads and corn salad.

Step 1: Portion Out the ingredients

Measure out half a cup of Greek yogurt , one-quarter cup of olive oil, one-quarter cup of apple cider vinegar, two teaspoons of honey, half a teaspoon of salt, half a teaspoon of garlic powder, and one-quarter teaspoon of dried dill.

Step 2: Whisk Together Ingredients

Vigorously whisk together all of the ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl.

Step 3: Pour into storage container

Pour your dressing into a glass storage container. Tightly secure the lid and shake once more to be sure the ingredients are fully incorporated.

This recipe includes all the typical things you find in chicken salad, but with Greek yogurt instead of the mayo! Heres what you need:

  • shredded chicken use rotisserie chicken for a shortcut here or use my foolproof method for slow cooker shredded chicken.
  • grapes I love using fresh grapes, but you could also substitute for raisins or even dried cranberries
  • celery and red onion these add a nice crunch to the salad
  • plain Greek yogurt you can use whatever fat level you like for the yogurt. I buy full-fat for my daughter so thats typically what I use. If youre dairy-free, feel free to use dairy free yogurt as a sub.
  • salted almonds you can swap for a different nut if you dont like almonds or have an allergy.
  • dijon mustard
  • fresh parsley if youve never added fresh herbs to your chicken salad youre missing out! I love fresh parsley, but fresh dill is also amazing!

Heres another classic salad dressing you need to have in your recipe book. My Healthy Red Wine Vinegar Dressing is a bit heavier on the vinegar to keep the calorie count lower. It gets lots of flavor from lemon and more herbs.

    Yes, this Greek yogurt ranch dressing is naturally gluten-free! Just be careful that the Greek yogurt and buttermilk you use dont have any additives that might contain gluten.

    To make this dressing vegan, youll need to sub out the Greek yogurt and buttermilk. If you dont want to mess around with substitutions, Id recommend using my delicious coconut milk ranch dressing or cashew ranch dressing. Yum!

    If you want to substitute, a great vegan swap for Greek yogurt is mashed avocado! You can sub it out in a 1:1 ratio for the yogurt in the recipe. You can also use soy yogurt or other vegan yogurt alternatives.

    To switch out the buttermilk, you can mix one tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar with any plant-based milk, so it comes up to half a cup. Allow it to sitand curdlefor 10-15 minutes after mixing.

    A couple of weeks ago, I posted a photo of my Greek Yogurt Chicken Salad on my stories and received a dozen or so DMs asking for the recipe. After sending it to a few folks, I told the gram I would take some more photos and post the recipe on my blog.

    Well, I told a half lie.

    I didnt take any more photos.

    I ate it all before it ever occurred to me to take photos.

    But Im still delivering on the recipe, so hopefully this will get me off the hook.

    I love this chicken salad because the use of Greek yogurt instead of mayonnaise makes it not only lighter, but even more packed with protein. I ate mine over a bed of romaine, but its also delicious as a sandwich or in a wrap.

    Without further ado, my Greek Yogurt Chicken Salad.

    Full disclosure: I didnt really measure anything, so these are approximations.

    Ingredients:

    • ½ cup of chopped walnuts
    • Salt & pepper to taste

    Directions:

  • Cook and shred chicken. My favorite method is to put the chicken breasts in my crockpot and cook on high for 3-4 hours. It might be tempting to add water or chicken broth, but theres no need the chicken will cook in its own juices!
  • Slice red grapes in half and chop celery stalks. I dont love celery, but I like the crunch so I tend to stay closer to two stalks. You can add more or less grapes to taste as well.
  • Thats it.

    Super simple.

    What Goes In Caesar Salad

    Theres all sorts of variations around, but the classic is made with:

    • cos lettuce or iceberg will do in a pinch!

    • crispy bacon

    • croutons garlic croutons, at that!

    • Caesar Salad Dressing

    • parmesan cheese, for finishing

    With the rich dressing, I find that even a plain Caesar salad is filling enough as it is to have as a meal. But a common addition, which you often find on the menu of bistros, is chicken and egg. Adds protein and makes it even more satisfying so Ive included these are optional in the recipe below!

    Healthy Greek Yogurt Dressing

    In a sealable jar add mayonnaise, plain greek yogurt, Dijon mustard, sea salt and pepper to taste, water, and chopped fresh herbs. Shake shake shake and your salad dressing is ready to enjoy!

    This dressing tastes amazing not only on salads but also on grain bowls. This warm Farro Salad for example has a similar dressing.

    Salad Dressing Recipe Tips To Keep In Mind:

  • Dont make too much. Fresh dressings will spoil fast so just make 4-5 servings to keep them fresh
  • Mason jars with lids make great containers for homemade dressings
  • Dont overdress your salad. These recipes will tend to not be as thick as full-fat dressings so they will come out of the bottle fast! Pour slowly!
  • Variety will keep you loving your salads so experiment with what you like. All your favorite dressings have low calorie versions to try.

    The traditional, freshly made, Caesar dressing is made using fresh, raw egg yolks, olive oil, lemon juice, mustard, salt, garlic, minced anchovy, and lots of parmesan cheese. This method is usually freshly made due to the raw egg yolks. The egg yolks, mustard, lemon juice, and olive oil are whisked into a creamy emulsion essentially a mayonnaise, and then parmesan cheese is added. I actually dont think Ive had a fresh made Caesar dressing before, I would love to try it.

    However, a lot of store bought Caesar dressings are made with mayonnaise as the base , along with the parmesan cheese, anchovy, parmesan cheese, and garlic added in.
