The Perfect Dressing Consistency

The consistency of the dressing can be altered by varying the amount of milk you add. Just add some more milk to make a dressing that you can drizzle onto your green salad. This salad dressing without oil makes a great healthy alternative to an oil-based Italian or French salad dressing.

I made this one a little thicker, using the quantities used in the recipe below, so that I could use it as a dip for the vegetables in the photos.

How Many Calories Are In Avocado Lime Ranch Dressing

I used Nutrionix to calculate the nutritional information it calculates one serving of this recipe at just 68 calories. The same website says that the calories in Chick-Fil-As is 310 calories. Thats a pretty significant savings in calories, not to mention the flavor is so much better, too! To save even more calories, try subbing the sour cream or mayonnaise for greek yogurt.

So Much Bright Flavor

Friends, this dressing is packed with so much brightness and zing. Like I said above, this avocado lime ranch contains both the zest and the juice from a fresh lime so there is so much delicious citrus going on.

The buttermilk adds a yummy tanginess to the dressing as well which always pairs really nicely with ranch.

A simple salad that would showcase this dressing nicely would be arugula, roughly chopped baby kale, scallions, and halved cherry or grape tomatoes. But dont take my word for it pull together your favorite greens and veggies and dollop on the dressing.

How To Make Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing:

I use my favorite food processor to make this salad dressing.

  • Take the skin off the avocado and remove the pit.
  • Put the avocado, lime, cilantro, garlic, olive oil, and greek yogurt in your food processer or blender. Start chopping.
  • Add a tablespoon of water at a time until you get your desired consistency.
  • Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Storing Healthy Salad Dressings

Sadly, this Creamy Avocado Lime Dressing doesn’t keep as well in the fridge because the avocado can turn colors. But even if the color turns a bit, it still tastes good. You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.

Honestly, it’s so scrumptious, you’ll want to polish off the whole batch in one sitting.

    Greek Yogurt In Creamy Dressing

Creamy Avocado Coconut Cilantro Ranch Dressing

I definitely prefer to use whole plan Greek yogurt in my dressings . You can use 1% or 2% if you prefer, but I am a strong proponent of full fat dairy in most things, especially if the quantity is small enough.

You can substitute more sour cream for the Greek yogurt if you like, or use all Greek yogurt, and omit the sour cream. Rice vinegar can also be substituted for the lime juice. Add more fresh herbs if you like the small amount offers a delicate herby flavor, but you might want to go bigger.

While it is of course great as a dressing as shown above, this is a nice thick dressing that works great as a spread on sandwiches and wraps. • Step 1 Grab your handy dandy Zwilling Enfinigy Personal Blender . If youve been watching my stories, then you know I am a huge fan of this blender and find myself using it pretty much everyday for either a smoothie, sauce, or dressing.
    • Step 2 Blend all ingredients with only half of the cilantro. Once it reaches a smooth consistency, give it a taste and decide if you want to add the remaining cilantro. I find that the fresh cilantro does add a bit of spiciness to the dressing, so taste test along the way to make sure that it is to your liking.

    Avocado Instead Of Mayo

Most ranch dressings start with a base of mayo, sour cream and buttermilk, but I knew from the get-go that I wanted to skip those things. I opted for Almond Breeze almondmilk with lemon juice to replace the buttermilk, along with avocado and olive oil to replace the mayo and sour cream.

The result is a delicious, herby dressing thats just as creamy, if not creamier then regular ranch. Its seriously the best!

Another great thing about this avocado ranch dressing is that its super versatile and can be used in a variety of ways.

The fact that I can make this in less than 5 minutes is mindblowing. Heres the recipe:

    • Prepare the avocado. Cut the avocado in half lengthwise and remove the seed. Use a spoon or fork to scoop out the flesh, making sure to discard any spoiled or softened parts.
    • Blend. Add the avocado flesh, chopped cilantro, olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic clove, and 2 tablespoons of water to a blender and blend until smooth.
    • Season. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. I like to use cracked black pepper for this.
    • Add more water. Add more water if needed until the dressing reaches your desired consistency.
    • Serve. Serve immediately.

Lately, my brand new secret obsession is avocados. I have them on eggs, rice bowls, bagels, toast, breakfast, lunch, dinner, you name it! Theyre in season here and I usually find them on sale, so Im trying to use them s much as I can before they go out of season. My favorite thing about avocados is their creamy texture and the fact that they are a super healthy source of fat. So I finally realized how ridiculously easy it is to make avocado dressing and how seriously delicious it is!

You know its going to be a great day when you dress your salad up with this delicious creamy avocado dressing. Not to hammer all of you vinaigrette salad dressers out there, but Im on time creamy dressing all the way. Like seriously, who can turn down creamy dressing?! I sure cant. Ever since I can remember, Ive always preferred creamy dressings. whether it was Caesar, thousand islands, or the classic ranch, I just can never get enough.

One downside to creamy dressing though is that they are loaded with calories and that sort of defeats the whole purpose of eating a salad. Even a tablespoon or two on a salad can easily pack on at least a hundred calories. Yikes! Luckily, with this healthier alternative to creamy dressing, you can have your salad and eat it too . Try this healthier dressing on your next salad and I promise your salad will thank you, and you might just come back here and thank me too!

Do You Have To Use Buttermilk

The buttermilk is truly necessary to the amazing flavor, so do use it if at all possible. If you dont have any and are itching to make it right away, add the lime juice called for to a cup of whole milk, then let it sit for 5 minutes or so. That should do the trick! You might need to add a little more lime juice after blending everything together, but taste it first and add it only as needed.

Avocado provides a rich, creamy, nutrient-filled based for this easy and satisfying salad dressing. We like to make it in the salad bowl we’re going to toss the eventual salad in for minimal clean-up, but it stores for a few days in a well-sealed jar or covered ramekin if you want to make it ahead.

The ground cumin adds an earthy balance to the rich avocado and bright lime juice, but if you’re not a fan of cumin, feel free to leave it out.

Use the best olive oil you can in this dressing, cheaper non-virgin oils can often taint nearby flavors and not for the better.

Can You Replace The Lime With Lemon

You can replace the lime with lemon but the flavor will change enough that it wont be quite as delicious. Its definitely better as a lime dressing since thats a better complement to the other flavors. You may end up liking it even more though, who knows? If thats all you have on hand, give it a shot and let us know in the comments how it turned out for you.

    Pantry & Staple Ingredients:

    • Mayo or Veganaise You can turn this into a paleo approved or vegan approved recipe, or anywhere in between, depending on what mayo or veganaise option you go with. Ive got my two favorite options listed below!
    • Garlic powder& onion powder These are a staple for all my homemade ranch recipes. Theyre more mild than adding raw onions and garlic, but still lend all that nice flavor.
    • Dried dill This turns it into true ranch for me. Just enough to brighten up the other flavors, not too much to overpower the whole dish. If you prefer to use fresh, use 3x the amount.
