This is a dressing that I started making years ago in the summer. I buried it in this recipe for Spring Cobb Salad but have been making it so much lately that I wanted to bring it back with a little extra love. This dressing is the kind that I love having in the refrigerator because I use it just about any time we need something for dipping, topping, or tossing. Its very light made mostly with plain yogurt so it really works in a variety of ways. Its also super easy to make. Heres how!

I think I have such a special place in my heart for Ranch, because I grew up eating it.

The only vegetables I really ate growing up were carrots and only if there was a higher Ranch to carrot ratio.

What Is In A Greek Yogurt Dressing Recipe

This healthy homemade salad dressing is made with siggis ...

This plain yogurt salad dressing recipe is really a creamy vinaigrette as it contains yogurt, lemon juice, extra virgin olive oil, minced garlic, fresh herb of your choice, and salt and pepper.

When it comes to yogurt, I am a big fan of Stonyfield Organics Greek yogurt as it is nice and thick. However, you can certainly make this recipe with plain yogurt as well. If you are calorie conscious and prefer the low-fat version of this yogurt-based dressing, feel free to swap whole milk yogurt with fat-free plain yogurt.

My favorite fresh herb to use is dill as I find that when it is mixed in with yogurt, it pairs so well with the rest of the ingredients. You can drizzle it on salad greens or use it as a dipping sauce for summer vegetables as I did in this baked zucchini fritters recipe or mixed in with cucumbers to make tzatziki sauce.

However, you can change it up by using different kinds of herbs. I also love fresh Italian parsley, mainly when I am serving it with Turkish meatballs.

Green Salad With Healthy Yogurt Dressing

Can you believe you can make a refreshing, flavorful salad dressing using mainly yogurt!? Being that yogurt is both creamy and tangy, it makes sense. Youll love the simplicity of both the flavor and the actual recipe in this Green Salad with Healthy Yogurt Dressing.

I have some students to thank for this recipe! I met two sisters from Afghanistan while student teaching at a high school in Connecticut . One day after giving them a ride to Walmart to buy a TV, they invited me for lunch. They showed me how to make Ashak and this salad and we spent the afternoon watching Bollywood movies on their new TV. I love that this salad always reminds me of that day!

When I want a delicious, creamy dressing that I can throw together, I go for this simple yogurt dressing. It literally involves dumping some yogurt in a bowl, adding some salt and pepper and herbs and a little garlic thats it.

You just stir the yogurt, herbs, garlic, salt, and pepper together and youre ready to dress your salad. I love it with romaine lettuce, but it works with any greens. You can also substitute chives or onions for green onions.

This salad is delicious as is, but can be turned into a meal or heartier salad if you like. I usually make this salad alongside grilled chicken or beef, but if youre not serving it along with meat, there are other ways to make it a bit more substantial. Some things you can add are:

  • grilled chicken
  • feta cheese
  • chick peas

How To Make Yogurt Caesar Dressing

For the Caesar salad dressing, youll need a food-processor or a high-speed blender.

You can also make the dressing in a bowl with a whisk. However, to keep it creamy, make sure to use anchovy paste and not the actual anchovies in a can. Also, youll want to use a fine grater or microplaneon both the garlic and the Parmesan cheese.

To make the dressing in a food-processor, simply add all ingredients into a bowl of a food-processor and blend until smooth. Thin out the dressing by a teaspoon of milk if its too thick. Cover and chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Katyas TIP: To avoid oversalting the dressing, first blend all ingredients together without any salt. Then stop the food-processor and taste the dressing, and season with salt as needed.

Recipe Tips And Variations

  • The consistency of the dressing will be thick. If you prefer a thinner dressing add a little more milk or water.
  • This dressing tastes much better after it has been in the fridge for a few hours. If you have the time, make this ahead of time for the best flavor.
  • Store your yogurt blue cheese dressing in a mason jar or a storage container in the fridge for up to a week.
  • Try using sharper tasting Roquefort or milder Gorgonzola in place of blue cheese.

Is Greek Yogurt Healthier Than Mayonnaise

How to make low fat lemon yogurt salad dressing Recipe

The word healthy is always subjective. In this case, a comparison of whole mayonnaise and nonfat Greek yogurt show differences that work for my diet in terms of lowering calories, fat, cholesterol, and sodium. You probably have different dietary needs, so it’s up to you to decide which ingredient is healthier.

This Creamy Lemon Yogurt Salad Dressing is sure to be one of your favorite new recipes. The dressing starts with Greek yogurt and gets punched up with lemon and thyme. Or serve it over a Greek Salad. Start with a bed of Romaine and add Kalamata olives, cucumbers, chick peas, cherry tomatoes, avocado and top with some crumbled Feta cheese. Caesar Dressing Nutrition 101

If youre wondering if classic Caesar dressing is healthy, the answer is: not usually.

  • Made with heavy ingredients, like egg yolks, cheese, and oil, traditional Caesar dressings can be high in fat and calories.
  • Store-bought Caesar dressings are often loaded with processed ingredients and even added sugars, which dont do you any favors.
  • Most short-cut dressings call for mayonnaise, which can also contain hidden processed ingredients and added sugars. No thanks!

Why Use Greek Yogurt

Greek yogurt is perfect for mixing salad dressings because it is creamier and thicker than regular yogurt, and packs a protein punch. It is thicker because the whey, which is the watery component that is left after milk curdles, has been strained off. Removing this liquid is why Greek yogurt is denser than regular yogurt, and results in less carbs too. As for the protein, Greek yogurt has roughly double the protein of regular yogurt.

Patience Is A Virtue I Struggle With

Salad Dressings You Can Make with Greek Yogurt

This is one of those salads that is best made the day before or at the very least 2 hours before serving.

I dont deal with this well. I pick at it constantly straight after making it and am always disappointed with how it tastes, and I fret that its not going to taste great.

Have patience my friends. Let time work its magic, let those flavours meld together, let the dressing marinate the broccoli. Its so worth it! Nagi x

PS If youre in a rush, Id recommend steaming the broccoli. Steam, rather than boil you want to avoid water soaked florets. It will ruin the creamy dressing experience.

If theres anything the multitude of dietary experts agree upon, its that vegetables are good for you.

Raw veggies? Even better.

Colorful raw veggies atop a bowl of fresh lettuces and greens? Jackpot!

Yep, you know salads are good for you and the growing bodies of your kiddos. But getting them into everyones tummies regularly? That can leave even the most capable momma scratching her head.

Though our family has been on the whole food train for many years, Ive just recently started a lunchtime salad routine in our home. No matter what else we have for lunch that day , a salad is always part of the picture.

We change up what goes on our salad to keep things from getting boring. There usually are some cold chicken, lentils, tuna, or nuts for protein. Maybe fresh herbs or a little fruit for extra flavor. In the springtime, I might even offer some foraged chickweed or dandelion greens and flowers from our unsprayed yard!

My children do a lot of work around the house. Team effort is how my large family thrives!

Greek Yogurt Green Goddess Salad Dressing

Dress up your salads with fresh and herbaceous Greek Yogurt Green Goddess Salad Dressing! Fresh herbs blend with greek yogurt, a little mayo, lemon juice and garlic for a lighter take on the beloved classic.

First things first, What is Green Goddess Dressing?

Aptly named for its vibrant green color, this salad dates back to the Palace Hotel in 1923 and is a creamy dressing consisting of fresh herbs, mayonnaise and usually contains anchovies.

While I cant say Ive had authentic green goddess dressing, I do enjoy Panera Breads green goddess dressing and their cobb salad. So much in fact that I tried to copy their dressing. Of course they dont just hand recipes over, so I used some herbs I have growing in my garden, said a prayer and whipped this dressing up in minutes.

A little later, when you arrive to the bottom of this post, youll see I did my best to copy their salad too.

Roast: Brush the chicken breasts with olive or a neutral oil and season with salt and black pepper. Roast the chicken in a baking dish at 350 degrees F 15-20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. Once its cooled, shred or chop it into bite-sized pieces.

Broccoli Salad With Lighter Creamy Dressing

Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing

I like my Broccoli Salad with slightly softened bite rather than a hard raw crunch, and plenty of dressing thats not excessively mayo-heavy. The dressing is still creamy, but its a lightened up mayo based dressing with fantastic flavourings and theres plenty of it!

For an even healthier option, try this Broccoli Salad with a mayo-free Creamy Lemon Dressing or Ranch Dressing, or this Broccoli Salad with Sour Cream dressing!

The mere mention of Broccoli Salad conjures up visions of giant bowls of broccoli swimming in oily mayo dressing thats often too sweet. Just the thought makes my thighs start expanding.

Yet I cannot deny that Im a sucker for a good Broccoli Salad with a creamy dressing. So today, Im sharing mine. Plenty of dressing. Lots of add ins to make the salad interesting. And marinated broccoli with a softened crisp bite, rather than hard raw crunch.
