Heres the best part of this recipe. Its incredibly easy to make. The only ingredients that need chopping is the basil, and itll take about 5 minutes to make your own pesto. Other than that, you just put all the ingredients in a bowl and whisk it together until its smooth and creamy.

Cover the dressing and refrigerate it, if you have time. Just 15 minutes will allow the flavors to come together and the dressing will shine.

You can use a food processor or blender if you want. I sometimes use my handheld stick blender. But a whisk works fine too.

Assemble The Salad Ingredients

Now that your dressing is complete, it’s time to throw together the salad. This is, in many ways, a classic Cobb salad that’s full of colorful and flavor-packed ingredients.

Grab a salad bowl and add one cup of spring mix. Since this recipe calls for two salads, you will add only half of the sliced chicken, diced bacon, avocado, diced tomatoes, and egg to this bowl, reserving the rest for your second serving. One tablespoon of feta cheese and one tablespoon of pickled onions make up the rest of the ingredients. Now that the salad is assembled, it’s time to get it all dressed up and ready to serve.

Prep The Salad Dressing

Panera’s Green Goddess Cobb Salad

The salad dressing is one of the most essential parts of this recipe, being the central “green goddess” of the title. Luckily, it’s pretty easy to make with some standard kitchen equipment.

To assemble the dressing, first, get out a food processor and add the mayonnaise, tarragon, chives, watercress, lemon juice, white wine vinegar, salt, and pepper to the mixing bowl. Once everything is safely in the food processor, close the lid and simply blend it all until the mixture is creamy and smooth. It will turn that signature gorgeous green color thanks to all the greens you’ve added. Now that the dressing is done, set it aside and move to the next step.

For the salad: we are using grilled chicken breast, spring salad mix, cherry tomatoes, hard boiled eggs, bacon, or turkey bacon for a healthier option, avocado and pickled onions. If you want to make this vegetarian, feel free to skip the chicken and use a can of chickpeas instead.

How To Make The Green Goddess Salad Dressing

The delicious, creamy, and tangy green goddess salad dressing is the star of the show here. Its undeniably easy to make and youll want to drizzle it on everything. To make it simply:

  • Add the greek yogurt, basil, shallot, cilantro, chives, dill, lemon juice, garlic, dijon mustard, red wine vinegar and salt and pepper to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
  • Taste it and add more salt and pepper to taste.
  • Green Goddess Dressing Recipe Ingredients

Heres what youll need to make this green goddess salad dressing:

    • Mayonnaise Use a good quality mayonnaise, or make your own, as this will add a nice richness to the dressing.
    • Greek yogurt Classic green goddess dressing is made with mayo and sometimes sour cream, but I skip them both in favor of Greek yogurt. It makes this recipe a tad healthier, and it adds a delicious tangy flavor.
    • Fresh basil The Panera version of this dressing uses basil, but you can toss in whatever other leafy herbs you have in my kitchen! Try using dill, mint, and/or cilantro, and tarragon.
    • Basil pesto You can use a store-bought pesto, or make your own following this recipe.
    • White wine vinegar The zesty vinegar gives an amazing bright flavor to this creamy dip.
    • Dijon mustard It adds extra richness and acid to the sauce.
    • Agave syrup This is the sweetness element of the dressing. Agave is as sweet as honey, but without the strong honey flavor. If you dont have agave, you can substitute with honey.
    • Salt and pepper They add depth of flavor and tie everything together!
