Reheating A Frozen Breakfast Burrito


Youre going to have the best results if you thaw the burrito overnight in the refrigerator. I just make it a habit that when Im headed to bed, to stop and transfer a burrito over to the fridge. Easy peasy!

However, you can still reheat these from frozen.

There are three options for reheating your breakfast burrito:

  • Microwave for a thawed burrito, microwave on high for about 1 minute. For a frozen burrito, wrap in a damp paper towel and microwave on high for about 2 minutes, turning halfway through.
  • Oven for thawed burritos, bake in a preheated 400°F oven for about 15 minutes. To bake from frozen, bake in a preheated 400°F oven for 35-40 minutes.
  • Skillet reheating in a skillet will give you the most amazing crisp exterior! Heat a drizzle of oil in a skillet over about MED heat. Add thawed burrito , seam side down, and cook until golden brown on all sides and insides are heated through, about 90 seconds per side.

    Tip: to take your breakfast burrito to the next level, serve it with a punchy dipping sauce on the side! Cilantro lime dressing is my favorite, because its zesty, fresh flavor accents the hearty ingredients inside the burrito. If you dont have any on hand, or if you dont feel like making it, serve the burritos with hot sauce, Greek yogurt or sour cream, or spoonfuls of tomatillo salsa.

    Yes! You can freeze before or after browning . Allow them to cool to room temperature then store in a freezer safe container either wrapped in or layered with parchment paper.

    A new drive-thru food business serving up salads for less than $6 is opening up shop next spring at the Fairview Town Center.

    Salad and Go recently began expanding into North Texas its first destination outside the companys home state of Arizona.

    We dont call ourselves a restaurant, CFO Brian Roberts told The Dallas Morning News.

    And perhaps the word restaurant doesnt quite fit the bill for a 700-square-foot standalone building with a drive-thru window and a walk-up window. Theres no seating for diners, and customers dont come inside the building.

    One of Salad and Gos hallmarks is its low prices. All salads are priced at $5.74, which includes chicken or tofu. Diners can opt to pay more for steak or shrimp.

    Twenty-four-ounce drinks are $1, and breakfast burritos are $2.99.

    Fairview isnt Salad and Gos first stop in its North Texas venture. The company has already opened locations in Plano, Dallas, Far North Dallas, Richardson and Fort Worth. Other locations are in the works for Arlington, Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Sachse and Prosper, according to a state database.

    1 1/2 pounds Chorizo, any kind

    1 large red onion, chopped

    2 cups mixed bell peppers, chopped

    1 serrano pepper, finely minced

    1 can diced green chiles

    3/4 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

    12 large eggs, beaten

    12 ounce sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

    In a large pan cook Chorizo on medium-high heat. Drain some of the excess fat. Add the onion, bell peppers and serrano pepper and cook for about 5 minutes. Add the green chiles, garlic powder, ground cumin, salt and black pepper and cook for another 1 minute. Add the eggs to the pan on medium heat and start scrambling the mixture. This can take anywhere from 4 to 8 minutes. Add the cheddar cheese and combine. Let the mixture hang out on the heat for a few more minutes to “dry” it out.

    Take your tortillas, place 1/2 cup of filling into each and roll them up “Burrito style” making sure to roll them tight and tuck the ends in. Wrap the cooled Burritos in wax paper before placing them in gallon sized Ziploc freezer bags.     Grab a bag of frozen or fresh diced potatoes at the store and cook them according to the package directions until they are super crispy and brown. You can definitely use a fresh potato, too. Just dice into small pieces like you see here add them to a skillet with a little oil and butter and youll get the same result.

    Now were moving on to the sausage! For these burritos we used pork sausage, but you can swap out Italian sausage with the casings removed, too. Just add to the same skillet that you cooked the potatoes in and cook until the sausage is browned through.
