A classic and the only tuna salad recipe youll ever need.

Sometimes you just want a really good old-school tuna salad. This is my go-to recipe. I start by draining the tuna really, really well so its not watery this is important! then I add a generous scoop of mayonnaise and lots of seasoning. From there, I stir in a spoonful of pickle relish for tangy sweetness, celery for crunch, and scallions for onion flavor. Finally, I add a squeeze of lemon juice and fresh parsley to brighten it all up.

Directions For The Tuna Salad With Egg And Relish

  • Firstly, boil the eggs in a pot or saucepan for 8 to 10 minutes over high heat. After the eggs have cooked thoroughly, drain out the water, and cool the boiled eggs with cold water.

  • Drain out the liquid in the tuna . Place the tuna in a clean bowl, and add the eggs, onions, mayonnaise, greek yogurt, pickle relish, celery, lemon juice, salt, and pepper.
  • Generously mix the tuna with the other ingredients in the bowl until they are well combined. Store the salad in the fridge for 30 minutes before serving.
  • If you want to have a tuna salad sandwich, toast the bread in a toaster or lightly toast on a skillet until brown.
  • On one piece of bread, add lettuce and the tuna salad, then add another piece of bread on top of the salad.

How To Tell If Eggs Are Fresh

Easy Tuna Salad Sanadwich | HOW TO MAKE TUNA SALAD RECIPE

To tell if eggs in the shell are fresh, use the float test:

    • Place eggs in the shell in a pot or bowl of water. Fresh eggs sink to the bottom. Older eggs may stand up in the water, but not float. These are still safe to eat. Eggs that float should be discarded.
    • Peeled hard-boiled eggs, whether whole or in salads, can keep in the refrigerator for only about 3-4 days.

Did you know? Eggs and many fresh products like milk are still safe and wholesome after the sell-by date stamped on the container. Some states require these stamps, while others dont, so you might not see a date. To save money and avoid waste, use the sell by or expiration date on your packages as a guideline.

The United States Department of Agriculture advises that eggs in the shell can keep for three to five weeks after the purchase date. They should always be stored inside the carton and not on the door.

I know its one of my comfort food and its been ages since I made my last egg tuna salad sandwich. How about you, when was the last time you had an egg tuna salad?

My husband loves tuna sandwich for his lunch, and as for him, an egg tuna salad is merely a mix of mayonnaise, black pepper, and hes good to go.

But for me, I want my sandwich to have some crunch to balance the mayo, so I added sweet pickle relish and chopped onions .

I like the taste of sweet and sour pickle relish though maybe some of you never tried, trust me, you should try it they add something extra to each bite.

Surely, sandwiches are just one of the options you can make with this egg tuna salad. You can add macaroni on it for a side dish, or you can nibble it on top of crackers which is also one of my favorite afternoon snacks.
