Ingredients In This Chicken Cobb Salad

How to Make Avocado Salad Dressing! An Easy, Healthy Recipe!

I used all of the traditional ingredients in my chicken cobb salad. Each layer is a new texture, taste, and crunch. Its all fresh and bursting with savory flavor.

  • Chicken: The main protein in this salad is chicken breast. Cut up the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces before you fry it on the stove. You could also bake or grill the chicken breast. Or, save time and use rotisserie chicken.
  • Avocado Oil: I used this on the stove when I cooked the chicken breast.
  • Salt and Pepper: This is the season the chicken breast.
  • Eggs: Hard-boiled eggs are a common ingredient in cobb salad. Use as many as you like.
  • Bacon: The crispier the bacon, the better it will crumble in your salad. I used 6 slices of bacon. To make it even healthier, consider swapping it out for some turkey bacon instead.
  • Romaine Lettuce: Most people use romaine lettuce in cobb salad but you can hnoestly use any kind of leafy green you like. It takes 3 hearts of romaine to make this salad.
  • Tomatoes: Any type of small tomatoes will work in this salad. I used about a cup of cherry tomatoes.
  • Avocado: Cut up an entire ripe avocado and dice it up for the salad.
  • Feta Cheese: You need about 1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese. You can also use some blue cheese instead!
  • Chives: Fresh herbs are the perfect garnish for this cobb salad.

How To Cut An Avocado

Avocado Lime Salad Dressing and Dip (Paleo and Whole 30) â The ...

To properly cut an avocado, follow these simple steps:

  • Start with a ripe avocado in one hand and a sharp knife in the other. Cut into it lengthwisearound the seed, making sure to initially cut into the avocado until the knife hits the seed. Then, rotate the avocado with one hand while holding the knife horizontally in the other .
  • Gently twist the avocado in your hands, twisting the two halves in opposite direction, and separate the two halves .
  • To remove the seed safely, use a spoon to scoop out the seed. Alternatively, place the avocado on a cutting board, seed-side facing up, and carefully strike the seed with a wide sharp knife to attach it partially. Now hold the avocado steady and twist the knife – the seed should pop right out. Tip: Using the knife seed-extraction method requires some skill, use the spoon method for a safer option. This dressing will naturally be on the thicker side due to the creamy texture of the avocado. Dont worry, simply toss the salad with your greens to ensure the veggies are evenly coated in dressing! Alternatively, you can thin it out with a little lime juice and water but you will want to add a little salt if you do that.

Ingredient Basil Vinaigrette Salad Dressing

How To Make Homemade Avocado Ranch Dressing Recipe

Disclosure:

Use summers fresh basil to make my healthy and homemade Basil Vinaigrette Salad Dressing.

Hi guys,

I didnt intend on having two salad dressing recipes in a row, but this is the first recipe the Hubs helped me with and I decided it was best to keep it as simple as possible. Im so glad with the way the pictures turned out! He helped me set up a tripod, get the camera in the right place and basically did everything except hit the button.

This Basil Vinaigrette Salad Dressing idea came from having a lot of fresh basil in the garden and loving the fragrant flavor of the herb in summer. It really is like summer in a jar.

Like most of my salad dressings I like to keep these recipes with as little ingredients as possible. My homemade basil vinaigrette salad dressing is only five ingredients.

The secret to this one are simply a really good high-quality olive oil, I like this one, fresh basil a nice vinegar, lemon and minced garlic. I like to keep a really nice olive oil in the pantry that I use exclusively for salad dressings and other uses were you really taste the oil. I think it makes a big difference.

Now you can leave a salad dressing with visible basil leaves, or you can blend it into more of a puree. Either way you get a pretty green color and the taste is the same.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did. As always, Id love to hear what you think in the comments.

How To Pick A Perfect Avocado For This Dressing

You do want a ripe avocado for this dressing, like you would if you were making guacamole. I suggest looking for a darker green avocado that yields to firm gentle pressure but doesnt feel mushy to the touch. The skin should be slightly pebbled but have no large indentations. Also if you remove the stem, youll want to see green. If its brown, its already too ripe.

    Avocado Dressing Recipe Ingredients

Heres what youll need to make this recipe:

    • Avocado, of course! I often make creamy salad dressings with nuts or dairy, but you wont find either of them here. The avocado makes this dressing plenty creamy on its own!
    • Extra-virgin olive oil For extra richness.
    • Water It creates the sauces smooth consistency.
    • Lemon juice For brightness.
    • Garlic It adds sharp depth of flavor.
    • Fresh dill I adore the fresh dill here, and I think you will too! It brings out the tangy flavor of the lemon. But if youre really not a dill person, feel free to substitute fresh chives.
    • And salt and pepper To make all the flavors pop!

Find the complete recipe with measurements below.

To make this avocado salad dressing, combine the ingredients in a blender or small food processor. Blend until the dressing is completely smooth and creamy. If its too thick, add more water, a little at a time, to reach your desired consistency.

Thats it! Use the dressing immediately, or store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

    How Long Does It Take

The longest part of making this dressing is cutting open the avocado and removing the pit. If you have a food processor, the dressing will come together in no time at all. The whole process shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes.

If you are making a small batch you could even use a mini food processor. You might want to half the ingredients or make it in two separate batches.

If you like raw onion in your dressing, I would chop it up in the food processor first before adding any other ingredients. A red onion would be best.

How To Get Ripe Avocados To Last:

The trick to storing ripe avocados so they last is a no-brainer, its easy and effective and has saved me SO much money. First buy hard to the touch, bright green avocados and allow them to ripen on the counter. Once they are black, soft to the touch pop them into the fridge. Here is where they will last for quite a few days! You guys this has changed my life and I owe this trick to my sisters. No more wasted avocados!

Start by scooping out the flesh of an avocado and add it to your mini food processor with the peeled garlic clove, lime juice, olive oil, salt and pepper. Alternatively, if you dont have lime juice, lemon may be substituted.

Having a mini food processor will help make this whole process easier. I use mine ALL the time and its one essential kitchen appliance I highly suggest owning. Theyre fairly cheap and great for small batch recipes like this one.

Next, secure the lid and puree until smooth. Also, make sure to scrape down the sides as you go. Lastly, pour in a little water at a time to thin it out to a desired consistency, I like to add 1/4 cup.

Finally add this dressing to your favorite leafy green salad or substitute it for mayo in a chicken salad! You could also eat it with tortilla chips or even a spoon. With that said, this may be the best creamy avocado salad dressing ever!
