Bottled salad dressing can turn your healthy lunch into a creamy mess of extra calories. Luckily, vinaigrettes are a breeze to whip up, and all the ingredients are probably already in your pantry.

These recipes should make enough to keep some in your fridge for future use. Most of the time the bottles will just need a solid shake before using. But if the dressing doesnt come back together within a couple shakes, then toss everything into a blender and take it for a whirl until everything is recombined.

DIY dressings are an easy way to keep sneaky calories out of your salad. With these vinaigrettes, you wont have to feel guilty about splashing a little extra onto your greens. Happy whisking!

How To Make Salad Dressings At Home

There are some smart ways to make your salad dressings at home. We can start with something as easy as the Jar and Shake Method or go for the more detailed modes like Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing, Chile Lime Dressing, Honey-Mustard Salad Dressing, and Italian Salad Dressing. The key is to have something that neatly complements the taste and look of what you are eating.

They all relate to different taste profiles and are usually meant for a variety of dietary practices, but there is one thing common in all of them. They are all very delicious and can be prepared quite easily. If you are an online fitness expert, you can safely recommend them to others who train with or under you.

How To Store Homemade Salad Dressing

I recommend storing your homemade dressing in a glass container in the refrigerator. I like to use mason jars! One thing to note: homemade dressings made with olive oil tend to harden and separate when stored in the fridge. This is completely normal! Take the dressing out of the fridge about 20 minutes before using so it can come to room temperature and then give it a quick shake to recombine the ingredients.

Keep This In Mind When Storing Homemade Salad Dressings

As I mentioned, some of these dressings are oil-based, meaning the oil will congeal in the fridge. I recommend before using your dressing to pull it out of the fridge at least 30 minutes before so it can come to room temperature. However, not all of these healthy salad dressing recipes call for ingredients that go bad when stored at room temperature, so I’ve made notes on how to properly store each dressing.

Now some of these dressings do have a natural preservative, like vinegar or lemon, but you really should try to consume them within a two-week period. It’s a good rule of thumb to follow, but just in case, I listed how long you should hold on to each bottle of healthy salad dressing as well.

Ingredients And Common Substitutions:

  • BALSAMIC VINEGAR: Substitute white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, or red white vinegar. I do not use the most expensive balsamic vinegar for this dressing. I save that for occasions where the balsamic can shine on its own.
  • LIGHT SOY SAUCE: In place of light soy sauce, use coconut aminos or regular soy sauce. You might want to skip the salt called for in the recipe if you go with regular soy sauce.
  • DIJON MUSTARD: Mustard adds umami in this recipe. Substitute your favorite type of mustard.
  • HONEY: Maple syrup makes a flavorful substitute.
  • GREEK YOGURT: The calorie count of this recipe is based on fat-free yogurt, but use your favorite type or whatever you have on hand. If you only have regular yogurt, that will work, too. However, the consistency will be a little thinner.
  • OLIVE OIL: My first choice is extra-virgin olive oil. But any oil you have on hand is acceptable as long as its fresh. Thats important for the best flavor.
  • SALT: The soy sauce has some salt to taste the dressing before adding any salt to see if you want more.

Incidentally, a serving of salad dressing is usually two tablespoons. Going overboard is easy. Whenever Im being obsessive and measuring it outwell, two tablespoons is rarely enough. Just sayin.

Healthy Honey Mustard Dressing

Honey Mustard is often filled with sugar but my version is not! It’s light, bright, and creamy thanks to the mustard and greek yogurt. My Healthy Honey Mustard Dressing does have honey but no added refined sugar.

Serve it with my Fall Harvest Salad or any other salad you’d normally like Honey Mustard with. It also works great as a dip!

Is Greek Salad Dressing Good For You

Yes! Greek Salad Dressing is good for you because the base is olive oil, which used in moderation can be heart healthy. It’s unsaturated fat that can help lower cholesterol. My salad dressing is healthier because it uses a bit less oil and more vinegar. It also doesn’t contain preservatives that you might find in a packaged salad dressing.

Why We Love This Greek Yogurt Ranch Dressing Recipe

Given that I have shared quite a few ranch recipes over the years, from my Healthy Ranch Dip, my Maple Ranch Dressing and my Horseradish Ranch Dressing, I knew I better share my healthy classic ranch recipe with you. I have finally put the finishing touches on it and I have to say, it came out so well!

As the title suggests this recipe is made with Greek yogurt, which is how we can get away with much less mayonnaise than a typical homemade ranch dressing. But unlike a lot of other recipes for Greek Yogurt Ranch, this one is unique in that it has both buttermilk and buttermilk powder added to it for authentic farmhouse-style ranch flavor.

We also added in fresh chopped shallot and dill which make it taste fresh and light and so much better than store-bought dressing. It goes well over a simple garden salad, to dunk veggies into, or use for Air Fried Buffalo Cauliflower Wings. I wont judge if you want to dip your pizza into it, and I even have used it to dress pasta salad and everyone loved the classic creamy taste!

This ranch dressing recipe is yet another awesome homemade salad dressing to try from the dozens I have shared here on Healthy Seasonal Recipes. If you havent tried any of them yet, make sure to check out my Lemon Vinaigrette and my Apple Cider Vinegar Dressing. Those are two of our top-rated! What’s In The Healthy Salad Dressing

Homemade Ranch Dressing Recipe â Low Carb Keto Salad Dressing | Saucy Sunday

This healthy salad dressing has just FIVE ingredients for a homemade dressing everyone will rave about. Here’s what you will need to make it.

  • Honey: You can use any honey but local honey is always wonderful to have on hand!
  • Mustard: For my recipe, I used classic dijon mustard to get the grainy appearance and a bit more of a bite. Skip the classic yellow mustard for this recipe.
  • Greek Yogurt: Use plain greek yogurt! I like to use 0% to keep my dressings lower calorie but use full fat for an even creamier finished product.
  • Lemon: A touch of fresh lemon adds some brightness and zip that you can’t miss.
  • Olive Oil: I like to use my favorite high-quality olive oil for homemade salad dressings.
  • Salt: Just a touch of salt perfectly balances out the flavors in this dressing.

You probably already have most of these ingredients in your refrigerator!
